About Out Of The Grey Coffee

Thoughtfully Sourced | Coffee Roasted Daily | Shipping Truly Extraordinary Coffee & Handcrafted Luxury Loose-Leaf Tea Everywhere | O Taste and See | Psalms 34:8

We are a custom small batch coffee roaster & tea merchant with a roastery on the top of Tobacco Row Mountain, Virginia. We roast to order (currently 26 different single origin coffees) in small batches & then send the coffee to our customers so quickly (within 24-hrs of roast) that it retains that just roasted aroma & arrives "almost still warm". Our tea looks, smells & tastes unlike anything you have ever experienced! This is our passion! We are teachers & always students. We believe that we should share our knowledge while continuously improving the product. (Romans 10:13)

I had a house guest that loves coffee so I ordered the Italian marzipan before they arrived. They loved it and highly recommended it. Out of the Grey is my favorite coffee place!

I first tried their coffee at the Sunflower Festival in Luray, VA. It was so good. I believe it was the Sea Turtle Mocha and it was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, my lower rating comes from my experience afterward. My husband just returned from an 11-month deployment to the Middle East, and coffee was a constant theme during his time overseas. Before he left, our family supported troops in training by donating to a coffee bar. During his deployment, our church, family, and friends sent countless pounds of coffee and k-cups to share with the coffee-loving troops. Because of this, I thought coffee would be a perfect way to thank his supporters, so I wanted to make coffee-themed favors for his welcome-home party. I reached out to the email listed on their website (sales@) to ask about small servings or sample packs that I could purchase. After waiting about 11 days without a reply, I followed up a second time, again clarifying that I wanted to buy, not request a donation. It has now been over two weeks since my initial email, and I still haven’t received any response. Maybe they don’t offer individual packs, and that’s completely fine, but there was no way for me to know tha

I ordered single origin Tanzania Peaberries and that is what the package said that I got. Inside however I found just the ordinary bigger flat sided beans (bulk on the right in the picture). The flattened side of ordinary coffee beans results from the fact that 2 beans grow within a single berry. Real peaberries (left on the picture - NOT from Out of The Grey Coffee) are typically smaller and with a round shape - distinct from ordinary beans, resulting from the fact that only one bean grows in a berry - that simple fact makes a peaberry - a peaberry. The Shipment was also accompanied by lots of religious blessings. So I felt I was supposed to *believe* that the coffee they have shipped to me was in fact peaberries from Tanzania. But here I failed - I do not believe. About the roast I can say it was as expected a medium roast but on the darker bolder side with slightly oily beans. For real Tanzania coffee (sorry to say it again: I do not believe I've gotten this) I prefer the light to medium roast resulting in light brown not oily peaberry beans. The taste: not like Tanzania coffee - more like a Pike Place form the Starbucks around the corner like a good Columbian coffee. - I give

My daughter and I stopped for coffee, ended up staying for dinner and took home dessert. Everything was amazing! The atmosphere, the people, the food. I think this may be our new favorite place!

I tried getting in this place for quite a few years not realizing they're only open on Thursday Friday and Saturday nights. But tonight I got my opportunity and boy did I find a awesome hidden gem. Absolutely outstanding food and coffee brewed to perfection.
